"A Celebration by Students, for Students"
Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day takes place on Friday 11 September, offering everything from sports tournaments and drinking games to live performances by artists including Thor Farlov and Berg. Around one hundred student volunteers help create the framework for what is expected to be an event attended by 11,000 people.
The autumn semester at Aarhus University is well underway, but for a brief moment the textbooks will be set aside as Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day once again welcomes students to its annual celebration on 11 September. The university will also be marking its 98th anniversary on the same day, with the traditional annual celebration taking place in the Aula.
The Student Council at Aarhus University, which organises Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day, is already hard at work preparing the festival and sports grounds. This is made possible with the support of a large number of AU student volunteers.
“We want to spread the message that this is a celebration by students, for students,” says Sarah Marie Mogensen, Project Manager of Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day, referring to the event’s 11,000 participants and 25 core student volunteers. Throughout the week leading up to the event, and on the day itself, several hundred additional student volunteers will lend a hand to ensure the successful delivery of Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day.

5,000 Tickets Still Available
This year, Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day is continuing with the more modest live music setup introduced in 2025. The aim is to create more space and time for the activities typically associated with a traditional Friday bar. These include beer pong, a pop quiz, beer croquet and, new for this year, a Flip Cup tournament.
The 2026 music line-up features Thor Farlov, Berg, Niklas, Roya, Gusto and DJ Lisa Fosmark.
Tickets cost DKK 105, although the total price may be higher depending on whether attendees choose to take part in beer croquet or one of the many sports tournaments taking place earlier in the day, including volleyball, football and roundnet (also known as spikeball). Participants can also enter the popular Beermile competition, in which teams of four are challenged to drink four beers while completing four 400-metre laps.
For anyone who has not yet secured a ticket, there are currently still 5,000 tickets available out of a total allocation of 11,000.
