The Christmas party at AU is cancelled due to new covid19 restrictions – but the organisers have a plan B
Unfortunately the university chaplains at AU and Studenterhus Aarhus won’t be able to hold this year’s Christmas party after all due to new covid19 restrictions. As an alternative, they have suggested organising students into small groups of 5 who can then celebrate Christmas together privately.
Every year the AU university chaplains and Studenterhus Aarhus host a traditional Christmas party in Stakladen for all Danish and international students, irrespective of cultural or religious backgrounds, who for various reasons are unable to be with their family to celebrate Christmas. But this year the party is cancelled due to the new covid19 restrictions.
A private party of 5
As an alternative, the organisers have suggested organising students into small groups of 5 who can then celebrate Christmas together privately.
Students will be in charge of making Christmas dinner themselves, but the university chaplains have an offer of an activity pack, which includes material for playing ‘pakkeleg’ at home and for making your own Christmas decorations.
Alone on Christmas Eve
The organisers felt that it would be a good idea to propose this suggestion, even with the official guidelines suggesting that everyone should restrict their social contacts. Otherwise some students will be alone on Christmas eve, because they aren’t able to travel home for Christmas.
It costs 15 kr to sign up for the Christmas party including the activity pack and the deadline for signing up is Thursday, 17 December.
