‘Stanford Peace Innovation Lab’ is written in red letters under the Aarhus University logo at the main entrance to AU Herning.

Aarhus University and Stanford are collaborating on the establishment of a new laboratory which will be the focal point for joint research projects in the future.

Peter Lindgren, professor at AU Herning and the driving force behind the establishment of the Stanford unit at AU Herning explains:

“Stanford University has chosen to collaborate with AU Herning specifically because we have managed to establish a productive research environment focusing on business modelling and energy technologies. These are areas in which Stanford University needs to improve. Though, of course, it does put pressure on both researchers and students at AU Herning to perform and deliver results of the highest quality."

There are currently 14 existing Stanford laboratories around the world, which focus on conflict management on various levels. For instance, conflicts between peoples or countries.

“To researchers from Stanford, Denmark is a very interesting place to conduct research, precisely because the challenges we are faced with in terms of innovation and peace are very different from other countries,” says Peter Lindgren.
