Elections to councils, boards and committees where students and staff can make their voices heard will this year take place between Monday 23 and Thursday 26 November.

As a student, you are eligible to vote in the elections to the boards of studies, PhD committees, academic councils and AU's board during the election period. As a member of staff – regardless of whether you are a member of the technical -administrative staff or the academic staff, you are eligible to vote in the elections to the academic councils and AU’s board.

Board of studies

The board of studies works in areas such as proposals for academic regulations and following up on course evaluations. In addition, the board approves the exam schedules, and many boards of study also set out guidelines for e.g. credit transfer applications.

PhD committee

The PhD committee is involved in which PhD courses are offered and in the evaluation the supervision that the individual PhD student receives from his/her supervisor.

The academic council

The academic council is a body that ensures the involvement of students and staff in the discussions of the academic conditions at the university, and not least, their co-determination of these conditions.

The Board

The board is Aarhus University’s highest governing body. It safeguards the university’s interests as an institution of research and education. It comprises a total of 11 members; two of the members are elected from among the students, two from among the academic staff, and one from among the technical-administrative staff.
