Bomb threat court case: Students to appear in the Danish High Court on 30 September

Three students appeared before the municipal court in October last year in connection with the bomb threat made against Campus Fuglesangs Allé in Aarhus. On 30 September they will again sit shoulder-to-shoulder in the dock. This time in the Western High Court in Aarhus.

The public prosecutor in Viborg appealed all of the judgements handed down by the municipal court and is demanding tougher sentences.

“As the accused are entitled to a new presentation of evidence, you could in principle say the case starts from scratch again. But they are charged according to the same legal section as in the municipal court, so it will be the same indictment," explains senior prosecutor Claus Guldbrand from the public prosecutor’s office in Viborg.

A former student who pleaded guilty to phoning in the bomb threat against AU’s Fuglesangs Allé campus on 17 December 2012 was sentenced to 30 days in prison. The municipal court made the sentence conditional provided that he carried out 40 hours of community service.

Another of the students was sentenced to 20 days in prison. This was also made conditional by the municipal court provided that she carried out 30 hours of community service. The last of the three students was acquitted.
