Rector Brian Bech Nielsen will step down as chair of Universities Denmark in September this year, when his four-year term comes to an end. Rector of the University of Southern Denmark, SDU, Jens Ringsmose, will take over the position.

Brian Bech Nielsen took up the position in 2022, becoming chair of Universities Denmark during the period when the Master’s reform was adopted. As is well known, the reform has brought significant changes to the university sector, including shorter Master’s degree programmes, work-integrated Master’s degree programmes and degree programme resizing.

“It has been a privilege to lead Universities Denmark at a time of great upheaval in our sector,” Brian Bech Nielsen says in a news release from AU.

Brian Bech Nielsen will continue in Universities Denmark as a representative of Aarhus University.
