The cafés and canteens at Aarhus University have been closed since mid-March.

But now that the university has opened its doors to employees and some students, a number of eateries have reopened as well.

Special guidelines

The cafes and canteens that are open have upped their focus on hygiene and other coronavirus precautions. In addition to the ban on groups over 50 indoors, the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs has introduced a number of other rules the university’s eateries have to comply with. For example, they can only admit one person per four square meters of floor area; customers must have access to water, soap and hand sanitizer; and only single-use towels are allowed in restrooms.    

Still not buffet as usual

A number of canteens have changed their menus as a consequence of the guidelines. For example, the canteen at the Royal Danish Library has dropped the buffet, while Kemisk Kantine is still offering their – under greater supervision and with disposable gloves.
