The senior management team is ready to announce the first decisions to be made on the basis of the problem analysis – and the 167 responses from the university community

Rector Brian Bech will hold an open meeting on Wednesday 22 October between 10:00 and 12:00 noon in Aulaen in Aarhus.

At a meeting on Wednesday 22 October, the university community will be informed about the first decisions made by the senior management team following the identification of the administrative and organisational problems which have plagued AU since the university was reorganised in 2011.

Meetings for the faculties and AU Administration have also been announced on the same day between 14:00 and 16:00.

Thorough analysis

The decisions made by the senior management team which the rector will announce at the meeting in Aulaen have been made on the basis of a thorough problem analysis carried out by an internal expert group lead by Professor Torben M. Andersen from the Department of Economics and Business.

The senior management team appointed the expert group in January 2014 with the brief to find out whether the organisation and administration that the management had put in place after the reorganisation supported the objectives of the academic development process at AU.

Report submitted

The expert group submitted a report in June 2014 containing a clear main conclusion stating that centralisation and standardisation had gone too far at the university.

Following a review of the expert group’s report by an analysis panel with broad representation of internal stakeholders, an annotated report was submitted to the senior management team on 2 June.

The rector's first announcement

At the first open meeting about the process, Rector Brian Bech Nielsen presented the senior management team's proposals for solving the problems at AU.

Following this the management’s proposals were submitted for consultation at the university in a consultation process which ended on 19 September. The senior management team received a total of 167 consultation responses.

Omnibus has talked to some of the people who submitted consultation responses to find out what decisions they hope the senior management team will make when it comes to important aspects of their everyday life at AU.
