Welcome to Omnibus!

You are now reading the first issue of the new official newspaper of Aarhus University: Omnibus. The name means “for everyone”, and that’s exactly what the newspaper wants to be. It aims to serve all the students and staff of Aarhus University by creating identity, bringing people together, and inspiring debate.

The editorial staff, consisting of two journalists, have editorial freedom and make up an independent unit which belongs under the auspices of AU Communication. But in all editorial issues we refer to an editorial committee whose job is to ensure that the newspaper remains independent of any particular interest groups at the university.

Six times a year

Omnibus will be published six times a year, and will be available on newspaper stands all over the university. But Omnibus is also a web-based newspaper which can be found at omnibus.au.dk. At first the editorial content will be virtually identical; but at omnibus.au.dk you have the chance to add your own comments on articles, as well as commenting on other people’s comments.

Give us your views

The debate called “Give us your views” can also be found at omnibus.au.dk. As the name implies, this is a place for free debate where anyone can introduce topics they’d like to debate with other people. The editorial staff have nothing to do with this debate, apart from ensuring that the contributors mind their manners. But of course we will be keeping our eyes open for any topics arising that might require additional journalistic attention in Omnibus.

Use us!

And while we’re on the subject of trying to find out what might interest a target group as diverse as that of Omnibus, while trying to develop good contacts all over the university: Please feel free to use us! Call us, send us a mail, or drop in on the editorial office for a cup of coffee one day.

We want to keep our fingers on the pulse – and we need your help to do so.
