Student Council opposed to honours programmes

The Student Council and the student representatives on the Board are against the idea of honours programmes designed for a select group of students. There are several reasons for this. For instance, they think it is wrong that some students should attend honours programmes in the very first semesters of the Bachelor’s degree programme because this is too soon to know which students are really interested in and able to cope with extra academic challenges.

The Student Council and student representatives on the Board are also against the use of quotas for honours programmes because they fear this will mean allocating funding to a minority at the expense of the majority.

The Student Council also opposes a proposal by Morten Østergaard, the Minister for Science, Innovation and Higher Education (Danish Social-Liberal Party), regarding special diplomas for students who complete an honours programme.
